1. Power Light
Power Light indicates the on/off status of your router. If your TP-Link router has a solid green power light, then that means your router is turned on. If you don’t see the power light flashing, the router is turned off.
2. WLAN Lights (2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz)
Some TP-Link routers have two separate bands, i.e., 2.4GHz and 5GHz; in some, both are combined. The solid green WLAN line means that the Wireless band is active. If the WLAN lights are flashing green, then that means a device is connected to the router, and there is active data transmission between the device and the router.
3. Internet Light
There’s also an internet light on the router, which shows whether the internet is active. You can determine whether there’s active internet or not. But how to check that? The internet light should be green, meaning the internet is active and there are no issues. If you don’t see any light, then that means the fiber optic cable or the network cable is not connected to your router.

4. Ethernet/LAN Light

If you connect a LAN cable to the LAN1 port and then connect it to your PC, then the LAN1 light will start flashing green. LAN2 will remain off because no cable is connected to it.
5. USB Light
There’s also a USB light on the router. This USB light shows the status of the USB port on your router. You can use this USB port to connect your devices like the printer, which needs direct network connectivity, or even to update the router’s firmware. If the USB light is flashing green, the USB device is connected to the port. If the light is off, the USB port is currently not being utilized.
6. WPS Light
The TP-Link router with a WPS feature will have a WPS light. The WPS light on the router should have a solid green color when the WPS connection is activated.
